The term "foo fighter" was coined by Allied pilots during World War II to describe unusual aerial phenomena they observed, including glowing balls of light, flying discs, and other unidentified objects. The first known report of a foo fighter sighting occurred in November 1944, when a group of US fighter pilots reported seeing strange, glowing objects that followed their planes and appeared to exhibit intelligent behavior.
